I come home with a lot of crazy stuff from the farmers market. The benefits of working there. In the past, it’s been greens, corn, herbs, tomatoes. Last week it was 10lbs of beautiful fragrant pears. But this week … whoa. I was the lucky recipient of a bushel of peaches. White peaches. It’s the end of the season so they’re not the best we’ve seen but they’re still pretty good.
Now, I need your input. What in god’s name should I do with them? I’ve eaten 6 of them since yesterday. I’ve already made a boatload of jam – last week alone I made 6 kinds including white peach with sauvingnon blanc and white peach fraise de bois. I don’t think I can stand to see another case of canning jars in my pantry. Any ideas?
My sister seems to think I’m going to make her a tart and ship it to San Diego. Fat chance but I like the idea of freezing a couple tarts or small pies for baking later in the winter. Another pal recommended pureeing the fruit and freezing in ice cube trays for cold weather bellinis. I really like that idea!
So that takes care of what … 20 peaches tops? I think I’ll have another 40 left. So whatcha got? Any other interesting ideas? I’m going to have to start dealing with them soon before my apartment turns into a fruit fly haven.
Thanks!

tell ya what, I’ll stick it in an envelope and send it right over. Should be nice and pretty by the time it finds you 🙂
